Yukon Giant UFO
Over 30 witnesses across multiple communities observed an enormous craft—estimated at over a mile wide—silently traverse the Yukon sky. Many described it as the size of a stadium.
The Yukon Giant UFO
On December 11, 1996, over 30 witnesses across multiple communities in Canada’s Yukon Territory observed what may be one of the largest UFOs ever reported. The craft was described as enormous—estimated by some witnesses to be over a mile wide—moving silently across the clear winter sky.
The Sightings
Between 8:00 and 9:30 PM, witnesses in the communities of Pelly Crossing, Carmacks, Fox Lake, and other areas observed a massive object moving slowly across the sky.
The object was so large and so low that it blocked out significant portions of the star field as it passed.
Witness Descriptions
Witnesses consistently described:
- Massive size (estimates ranged from hundreds of yards to over a mile)
- Dark, structured body
- Multiple colored lights (rows of lights visible)
- Absolutely silent operation
- Slow, deliberate movement
- Low altitude (some estimated treetop level)
One witness described it as “the size of a football stadium.” Others compared it to multiple aircraft carriers placed side by side.
Investigation
The case was extensively investigated by Martin Jasek of UFO*BC, who interviewed all 31 known witnesses. His investigation revealed:
- Consistent descriptions across separated witnesses
- The object’s trajectory could be plotted across multiple observation points
- Witnesses included a pilot, nurses, First Nations elders, and RCMP officers
- Many witnesses were deeply affected by the experience
Size Estimation
Using multiple witness positions and their observations of how much sky the object blocked, Jasek estimated the craft to be approximately 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) across.
This would make the Yukon UFO one of the largest ever reported in a multiple-witness case.
The Witnesses
The 31 witnesses included:
- A commercial pilot
- Nurses and health professionals
- First Nations community members
- Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers
- Hunters familiar with the night sky
Their credibility and the consistency of their accounts impressed investigators.
Physical Effects
Some witnesses reported:
- Feeling of being watched
- Dogs becoming agitated
- Temporary disorientation
- Lasting psychological impact
Several witnesses were reluctant to discuss the sighting initially, fearing ridicule.
Significance
The Yukon case is significant for:
- Number of independent witnesses (31)
- Geographic spread of observations
- Estimated size of the object
- Credibility of witness pool
- Detailed investigation
Legacy
The Yukon Giant UFO case remains one of the best-documented sightings of an enormous structured craft. The combination of multiple credible witnesses across a wide area, viewing the same object from different angles, creates strong evidence that something extraordinary traversed the Yukon sky on that December night.
Whatever the witnesses observed, it represents technology far beyond known human capability—either classified or genuinely unknown.
