The Ghost of Captain Kidd

Captain William Kidd was a privateer who was hanged for piracy in 1701. Before his arrest, he buried treasure on Gardiner’s Island near Long Island, New York. His ghost is said to still guard that treasure.

The Gardiner family has owned the island continuously since 1639. Family members and visitors have reported encounters with a ghostly figure. The island remains private, limiting investigation.
