Bodmin Jail: Cornwall's Execution Site
Bodmin Jail held prisoners and performed executions for 150 years. Now partially restored as a hotel and attraction, its spectacular ruin is one of Cornwall's most haunted sites.
Bodmin Jail: Cornwall’s Execution Site
Bodmin Jail stands on the edge of Bodmin Moor, its ruined walls rising against the Cornish sky. For 150 years it held prisoners, and 55 executions took place within or outside its walls. The jail closed in 1927 and fell into atmospheric ruin. Now partially converted to a hotel and attraction, it offers visitors the chance to sleep where prisoners died—and where their ghosts remain.
