The Legend
According to documented folklore:
The Cadejo exists in two forms:
- White Cadejo: protector of travelers
- Black Cadejo: evil, attacks the drunk
- They are eternal enemies
- One serves God, one the Devil
White Cadejo
The good Cadejo:
- Appears to protect travelers
- Guides them home safely
- Defends against evil
- Has a divine origin
- Often appears to those in danger
Black Cadejo
The evil Cadejo:
- Targets sinners and drunkards
- Has glowing red eyes
- Goat-like hooves
- Drives victims mad or kills them
- The smell of sulfur follows it
Description
Both appear as:
- Large dogs
- With chains or shackles
- Glowing eyes (blue or red)
- Thick fur
- Traveling at night
The Battle
When they meet:
- They fight for the human’s soul
- The outcome depends on the person
- A sinner may be lost
- The righteous are protected
