The Ahool

The Ahool is a giant flying creature reported from Java, Indonesia. Named for its distinctive cry, it has been described as either an enormous bat or a flying primate with a wingspan of up to twelve feet.

Witnesses describe grey fur, a monkey-like face with large dark eyes, and prominent claws. Naturalist Ivan Sanderson claimed to have encountered one in 1927.

Proposed explanations include an undiscovered giant bat species, a surviving pterosaur, or misidentified flying foxes.
