Mokele-mbembe is reported from the Congo Basin swamps. Described as resembling a sauropod dinosaur, it has inspired numerous expeditions seeking living dinosaurs.

Natives consistently describe a large four-legged animal with a long neck living in rivers and swamps. The Congo Basin’s vast unexplored swampland could theoretically harbor unknown animals.
