Orang Pendek
Orang Pendek (“short person” in Malay) is a bipedal primate reportedly living in Sumatra’s remote forests. Unlike most ape-man cryptids, it stands only three to five feet tall and is taken seriously by some scientists.
Witnesses describe golden-brown or dark hair, upright walking, and a human-like face. British expeditions have found footprints and hair samples.
The Orang Pendek attracts scientific interest because Sumatra’s forests remain largely unexplored, new primates have been discovered recently, and physical evidence has been recovered. Proposed identities include a surviving hominid or unknown great ape.
