The Haunting of Berry Pomeroy Castle
Berry Pomeroy Castle near Totnes in Devon is considered one of the most haunted places in England. The atmospheric ruins host multiple ghosts with violent histories, creating an environment so charged that many visitors report overwhelming supernatural experiences.
The Castle
The Pomeroy family built the castle in the 11th century. The Seymour family acquired it in the 16th century and built an ambitious mansion within the medieval walls. The castle was abandoned by 1700 and left to decay into romantic ruin.
The White Lady
The White Lady is believed to be Margaret Pomeroy, walled up alive by her jealous sister Eleanor. Both loved the same man, and Eleanor imprisoned her sister in the dungeon, where she starved to death. Margaret’s spirit lures men to their deaths.
The Blue Lady
