The Chicago O'Hare UFO
Airport workers saw a dark disc hovering over a terminal before it shot through the clouds.
The Chicago O’Hare UFO
On November 7, 2006, a dark, disc-shaped object was observed hovering over Gate C17 at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. The object hovered for several minutes before shooting straight up through the cloud layer, leaving a visible hole in the clouds.
The Sighting
At approximately 4:30 PM, United Airlines employees and pilots observed a metallic, disc-shaped object hovering about 1,900 feet above Gate C17. It was dark and estimated to be 6 to 24 feet in diameter.
The Witnesses
Witnesses included pilots, mechanics, and ramp workers. All described the same object. They watched it hover silently for several minutes before it accelerated straight up, punching a distinct circular hole in the overcast clouds.
The Hole in the Clouds
Multiple witnesses reported that the object left a visible hole in the clouds as it departed. The hole remained visible for several minutes before closing. This physical effect was considered highly significant.
Official Response
The FAA initially denied any unusual sightings but later acknowledged receiving witness reports. United Airlines said nothing unusual occurred. No official investigation was conducted.
Assessment
The O’Hare sighting is significant for its location at a major airport, the quality of witnesses, and the physical effect on the clouds. Something was over O’Hare that day, and the lack of official interest only deepens the mystery.
