The Entity Case
A woman was allegedly attacked and sexually assaulted by an invisible entity in a terrifying case.
The Entity Case
Doris Bither of Culver City, California, experienced one of the most disturbing poltergeist cases ever documented. She claimed to be repeatedly physically and sexually attacked by invisible entities. The case was investigated by researchers from UCLA.
The Attacks
Doris reported that three entities attacked her regularly. Two held her down while a third assaulted her. She had bruises and bite marks that appeared without explanation. Her children witnessed some of the attacks, seeing their mother thrown against walls.
The Investigation
Dr. Barry Taff and Kerry Gaynor from UCLA investigated the case. During one session, witnesses reported seeing lights form into a humanoid shape in Doris’s bedroom. Photographers captured anomalous lights on film. The researchers were deeply disturbed by what they witnessed.
The Phenomena
Beyond the attacks, typical poltergeist activity occurred. Objects moved on their own. Doors opened and closed. The activity centered on Doris and seemed to follow her when she moved.
The Aftermath
Doris moved multiple times, but the attacks continued. The phenomena only ceased after her death in 1999. The case inspired the 1982 film “The Entity,” though it was fictionalized.
Assessment
The Entity case raises uncomfortable questions about the nature of poltergeist activity. The sexual nature of the attacks was unprecedented. Whether the phenomena were genuine, psychological, or some combination remains debated, but the witnesses were credible and the evidence was documented.
