The San Pedro Poltergeist
A single mother experienced violent attacks and terrifying phenomena investigated by renowned researchers.
The San Pedro Poltergeist
Jackie Hernandez, a single mother living in San Pedro, California, experienced one of the most violent and well-documented poltergeist cases of the late twentieth century. The phenomena were investigated by Dr. Barry Taff and cameraman Barry Conrad.
The Beginning
Jackie moved into the small bungalow in 1989. Almost immediately, strange things began happening. Lights turned on and off. Objects moved by themselves. A thick, blood-like ooze seeped from the walls. Most disturbing were the attacks: Jackie was scratched and thrown across rooms by an invisible force.
The Investigation
Dr. Barry Taff, famous for investigating the Entity case, was called in to study the phenomena. During investigations, team members witnessed floating lights, heard disembodied voices, and experienced equipment malfunctions. Photographer Barry Conrad was attacked in the attic, temporarily strangled by something he could not see.
The Photograph
The investigation produced what many consider compelling evidence: a photograph showing what appears to be an elongated, ghastly face manifesting in the attic. This image has become one of the most famous paranormal photographs ever taken.
The Escalation
The phenomena followed Jackie when she moved to other locations. Fire broke out mysteriously. She was physically attacked repeatedly. The activity seemed to center on her specifically rather than on any location.
Assessment
The San Pedro case was witnessed by multiple investigators and produced physical evidence including photographs, scratch marks, and mysterious substances. While skeptics suggest Jackie may have caused some phenomena, the attacks witnessed by investigators remain unexplained.
