The Thornton Heath Poltergeist
In 1938, the Forbes family of Thornton Heath experienced dramatic poltergeist activity. Objects flew through the air, furniture moved, and phenomena occurred in front of journalists and investigators.
The disturbances began with tapping sounds, then eggs disappearing. Soon objects were flying with violent force. Heavy furniture moved across the floor. The phenomena centered on Mrs. Forbes.
Journalist Nandor Fodor investigated extensively and documented numerous incidents. The Society for Psychical Research and police also investigated. The phenomena eventually ceased without explanation.
