The Clarita Villanueva Possession
In 1953, seventeen-year-old Clarita Villanueva of Manila, Philippines, was attacked by invisible entities that left bite marks on her body. The case was witnessed by doctors, police, and journalists. It was resolved through Christian prayer.
The Victim
Clarita Villanueva was a teenage girl in Manila’s Bilibid Prison, where she was held on vagrancy charges. In May 1953, she began screaming that something was biting her.
The Attacks
Bite marks appeared on Clarita’s arms, neck, and shoulders. Medical doctors examined her and confirmed the wounds were genuine bite marks that appeared spontaneously without visible cause. Guards witnessed marks forming on her skin.
The Witnesses
Dr. Mariano Lara, Manila’s chief medical officer, examined Clarita and witnessed bite marks appearing. Police, journalists, and prison officials observed the attacks. The case made national news.
The Entities
Clarita described two beings attacking her: one large and hairy, one small and resembling a monster. Only she could see them. They bit her repeatedly while she screamed in terror.
The Resolution
American missionary Lester Sumrall visited Clarita and prayed for her deliverance. The attacks ceased. Clarita converted to Christianity and was released from prison. She never experienced similar attacks again.
Assessment
The Clarita Villanueva case is remarkable for the physical evidence (bite marks) witnessed by medical professionals appearing in real time. Whatever attacked her left verifiable wounds that doctors could not explain.
