The Belgian UFO Wave

Between November 1989 and April 1991, Belgium experienced one of history’s most significant UFO waves. Thousands of people, including police officers and military personnel, observed large triangular craft. The Belgian Air Force investigated and publicly acknowledged the mystery.

The Sightings

Beginning in November 1989, residents across Belgium reported large triangular or V-shaped craft with bright lights at each corner. The objects moved silently at varying speeds. Sightings continued over months, with thousands of reports filed.

The Radar Evidence

On March 30-31, 1990, Belgian Air Force F-16s were scrambled to intercept the objects. Radar tracked unusual targets displaying impossible maneuverability, including rapid acceleration and sharp turns that would destroy conventional aircraft.

The Photographs

Multiple photographs were taken during the wave. The most famous, taken in Petit-Rechain, showed a triangular object with three lights. Though this image was later claimed as a hoax, other photographs and video remain unexplained.

The Official Response

Uniquely, the Belgian Air Force publicly acknowledged the sightings and their investigation. Major General Wilfried De Brouwer became a spokesman for the investigation, stating that despite extensive efforts, no conventional explanation was found.

The Investigation

A joint investigation by the Belgian military and civilian scientific groups documented the wave. The SOBEPS organization collected over 2,000 witness reports. The investigation concluded that the objects displayed characteristics beyond known technology.

Assessment

The Belgian wave is significant for its scale, duration, official investigation, and the military’s public acknowledgment that the objects remain unexplained. Whatever flew over Belgium in those months demonstrated capabilities beyond any known aircraft.
