Betty Hill's Star Map
An abductee drew a map under hypnosis that was later matched to real stars.
Betty Hill’s Star Map
During her famous 1961 abduction, Betty Hill was shown a star map by her captors. Under hypnosis in 1964, she drew the map from memory. In 1969, a researcher claimed to match it to actual stars, suggesting an origin from Zeta Reticuli.
The Abduction
On September 19-20, 1961, Betty and Barney Hill encountered a UFO while driving through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Under hypnosis, they recalled being taken aboard a craft and examined by beings with large eyes.
The Map
Betty recalled being shown a three-dimensional map by the leader of the beings. It showed lines connecting star systems, indicating trade and exploration routes. She sketched the map from memory during hypnosis sessions.
The Investigation
In 1969, amateur astronomer Marjorie Fish began attempting to match Betty’s map to known stars. Using a three-dimensional model, she claimed to identify the pattern as matching stars in the Zeta Reticuli system.
The Controversy
Other researchers disputed Fish’s identification. Different observers have proposed different matches. The pattern is simple enough that matching it to various star configurations is possible. The identification remains disputed.
The Significance
If genuine, the star map would represent concrete evidence of extraterrestrial contact. The beings would have originated from a specific, identifiable location. This would be extraordinary proof.
Assessment
The Betty Hill star map remains one of the most intriguing aspects of the Hill case. Whether genuine alien information or coincidental pattern matching, it continues to spark debate among researchers.
