The Brazilian UFO Night
Multiple UFOs were tracked by radar and pursued by military jets in a night of aerial encounters over Brazil.
The Brazilian UFO Night
On May 19, 1986, the Brazilian Air Force scrambled jets to intercept unidentified objects tracked on radar across multiple states. The incident, acknowledged by the Brazilian government, remains one of the most officially documented UFO cases in history.
The Sightings
That night, air traffic control centers across Brazil began tracking unidentified radar returns. Objects were detected near São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Brasília. Witnesses on the ground reported seeing lights in the sky that moved in unusual patterns.
The Intercepts
The Air Force launched multiple Mirage and F-5 fighters to intercept the objects. Pilots reported visual contact with bright objects that could accelerate to tremendous speeds and change direction instantaneously. Despite attempts to close distance, the objects consistently evaded the jets.
The Objects
Pilots described the objects as lights of various colors, primarily red and green, moving in ways that defied conventional aircraft performance. Radar confirmed speeds and maneuvers beyond any known technology. When jets approached, the objects would accelerate away; when jets turned back, the objects followed.
Official Response
The Brazilian Air Force publicly acknowledged the incident. The Minister of Aeronautics held a press conference with the participating pilots. Documents were eventually declassified and released, confirming the official nature of the investigation.
Assessment
The Brazilian UFO Night is significant because the government openly discussed the case and admitted it had no explanation. The combination of radar confirmation, multiple trained military witnesses, and official acknowledgment makes it one of the strongest UFO cases on record.
