The Broad Haven UFO Incident

On February 4, 1977, a group of schoolchildren at Broad Haven Primary School in Pembrokeshire, Wales, witnessed a silver, cigar-shaped craft land in a field near their school. One child reported seeing a figure in a silver suit. The incident sparked a major UFO flap in the area.

The Sighting

During their lunch break, approximately fourteen children observed a silver object in a field adjacent to the school. The object was described as having a dome and lights. At least one child reported seeing a humanoid figure near the craft.

The Drawings

The headmaster, Ralph Llewellyn, separated the children and asked them to draw what they had seen. The resulting drawings, made independently, showed remarkable consistency in depicting a domed, disc-shaped object.

The Investigation

The sighting was investigated by UFO researchers and received significant media coverage. The children’s testimony was considered credible. No conventional explanation was found for what they observed.

The Welsh Triangle

The Broad Haven incident was part of a larger wave of sightings in Pembrokeshire in 1977. The area became known as the “Welsh Triangle” due to the concentration of reports. Multiple witnesses reported various phenomena throughout the year.

The Silversuited Figure

A figure in a silver suit was reported at several locations during the Welsh Triangle flap, not just at Broad Haven. Whether this represented a genuine entity or a hoax was never determined.

Assessment

The Broad Haven incident is significant for the number and age of its witnesses. Children’s testimony is often considered unreliable, but the consistency of the children’s independent drawings suggests they witnessed something unusual.
