The Cash-Landrum Incident

On December 29, 1980, Betty Cash, Vickie Landrum, and Vickie’s seven-year-old grandson Colby encountered a diamond-shaped object emitting flames and surrounded by military helicopters on a rural Texas road. All three suffered severe injuries consistent with radiation exposure.

The Encounter

The three were driving home near Huffman, Texas, when they saw a bright light ahead. They stopped and exited the vehicle. A large diamond-shaped object hovered above the road, emitting flames from its underside.

The heat was so intense that the car’s dashboard became soft to the touch. The object departed, accompanied by approximately twenty-three helicopters, some identified as CH-47 Chinooks.

The Injuries

Within hours, all three developed symptoms of radiation exposure. Betty Cash was most severely affected: her eyes swelled shut, she developed blisters, and she lost large clumps of hair. She was hospitalized multiple times and never fully recovered, eventually dying of cancer in 1998.

Vickie and Colby also suffered radiation-like symptoms, though less severe.

The witnesses sued the U.S. government for $20 million, arguing that the military helicopters indicated government involvement. The case was dismissed because the government denied ownership of the craft and no branch of the military acknowledged the helicopters.

Assessment

The Cash-Landrum case is unique because of the documented medical injuries and the apparent military presence. The witnesses’ suffering was real and documented. Whatever the object was, it caused genuine harm.
