The Cissbury Ring UFO Encounters

Cissbury Ring, a massive Iron Age hill fort on the South Downs near Worthing, has been the site of numerous UFO sightings since the 1960s. The ancient earthwork, second largest in England, seems to attract unexplained aerial phenomena.

The Location

Cissbury Ring encloses over 60 acres within its Iron Age ramparts. Beneath the fort are Neolithic flint mines over 5,000 years old. The site has been important to humans for millennia and offers panoramic views of sea and Downs.

The Sightings

Since at least the 1960s, visitors have reported unusual lights above and around Cissbury Ring. These range from single orbs to formations of lights performing complex maneuvers. The lights appear at various times but are most often seen at night.

The 1967 Incident

A notable sighting occurred in summer 1967 when multiple witnesses observed a disc-shaped object hovering above the hill fort. The object emitted a humming sound and bright light before rapidly ascending and disappearing. The witnesses included a police officer.

The Connection

Some researchers suggest that UFO activity concentrates around ancient sites, and Cissbury Ring’s long history of human significance may be relevant. Others propose that the site’s geology or electromagnetic properties attract unusual phenomena.

The Experiences

Beyond visual sightings, visitors have reported equipment malfunctions, lost time, and unusual physical sensations at Cissbury Ring. These experiences parallel reports from other ancient sites associated with UFO activity.

Assessment

Cissbury Ring represents a convergence of ancient history and modern UFO phenomena. Whether the hill fort’s significance to prehistoric peoples relates to its apparent attraction for aerial phenomena remains an intriguing question.
