The Melbourne UFO
A businessman photographed a disc-shaped UFO from his airplane.
The Melbourne UFO
On April 2, 1966, four days before the Westall school sighting, Melbourne businessman John M. took a series of photographs from a light aircraft showing a disc-shaped object. The photographs were analyzed and never explained.
The Sighting
While flying in a Cessna over the Melbourne suburbs, John observed a metallic disc-shaped object pacing his aircraft. He grabbed his camera and took five photographs before the object accelerated away.
The Photographs
The photographs show a dark, disc-shaped object against the sky. Analysis showed no evidence of fabrication. The object appears solid and structured.
The Analysis
The Royal Australian Air Force examined the photographs. They concluded the images were genuine and showed “an unidentified flying object.”
The Connection
The sighting occurred just four days before the mass Westall sighting. Whether the same object was involved, or Melbourne was experiencing a UFO flap, is unknown.
Assessment
The Melbourne photographs are among the better-authenticated UFO images from Australia. A credible witness with photographic evidence, examined by military analysts, adds weight to the reality of the phenomenon.
