The Hastings and Battle UFO Sightings

The area around Hastings and Battle in East Sussex has been a hotspot for UFO sightings since the 1980s. Witnesses have reported unusual lights over both the town and the historic battlefield where England’s fate was decided in 1066.

The Locations

Hastings is a coastal town with a long history. Battle, six miles inland, is the site of the Battle of Hastings. Both areas have dark skies away from the seafront, making unusual aerial phenomena visible.

The Coastal Sightings

Lights over the English Channel have been reported by Hastings residents and fishermen. Objects have been seen hovering over the water before ascending at tremendous speed. Some appear to enter or emerge from the sea.

The Battlefield Lights

Strange lights have been observed over the Battle Abbey grounds and the battlefield. Some have speculated these are connected to the violent history of the site, though UFO researchers consider them separate phenomena.

The 1993 Wave

A concentration of sightings occurred in 1993, with multiple witnesses on different nights reporting similar phenomena. Triangular objects were seen by several observers, consistent with the Belgian UFO wave pattern.

The Investigation

Local UFO groups have documented dozens of reports from the Hastings and Battle area. While no definitive explanation has been reached, the concentration of sightings suggests something unusual occurs there.

Assessment

The Hastings and Battle area represents a consistent UFO hotspot over several decades. Whether the historical significance of the location attracts such phenomena or the sightings are coincidental remains unknown.
