The Ohio Police UFO Chase
In the early morning hours of April 17, 1966, police officers from three Ohio counties chased a brilliant UFO for 85 miles. The object demonstrated extraordinary speed and maneuverability. The case ruined the career of the primary witness.
The Discovery
Deputy Dale Spaur and his partner Wilbur Neff were investigating an abandoned vehicle when a large, glowing object rose from nearby trees. It was approximately 50 feet in diameter and hummed with energy. It moved away, and they followed.
The Pursuit
The officers chased the object at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour through three counties into Pennsylvania. Other officers joined the pursuit. All described the same object: large, metallic, and brilliantly illuminated.
The Performance
The object maintained a consistent distance ahead regardless of the patrol cars’ speed. It rose and descended at will. It was joined by a second, smaller object before both departed vertically at tremendous velocity.
The Aftermath
Project Blue Book concluded the officers chased a satellite and Venus. The officers rejected this explanation. Spaur was subjected to ridicule, his marriage collapsed, and his career was destroyed. He died in obscurity.
The Credibility
Multiple trained police officers in three counties independently observed and pursued the same object. Their accounts were consistent. Their careers and reputations were destroyed for telling the truth.
Assessment
The Portage County chase demonstrates the cost of UFO reporting. Credible witnesses were dismissed and destroyed. Whatever they chased that April morning, their willingness to pursue it despite knowing the consequences argues for its reality.
