The Shoreham Channel UFO

In March 1995, fishermen working out of Shoreham-by-Sea witnessed an unusual object descend from the sky and enter the English Channel. The sighting lasted several minutes and was reported to local authorities.

The Location

Shoreham-by-Sea sits where the River Adur meets the English Channel. The fishing fleet operates from the harbour, and fishermen are familiar with the appearance of aircraft, ships, and natural phenomena in local waters.

The Sighting

In the early morning hours, the crew of a fishing boat observed a bright light descending from the northeast. As it approached the water, they could see it was a disc-shaped object, glowing with an orange-white light.

The Descent

The object slowed as it approached the water and appeared to hover briefly. It then descended into the Channel, entering the water without visible splash or sound. The glow persisted briefly beneath the surface before fading.

The Search

The fishermen searched the area where the object entered the water but found nothing. No debris, no oil slick, no evidence of a crash. The water showed no disturbance.

The Report

The crew reported their sighting to the coastguard and later to UFO researchers. They were considered credible witnesses whose livelihood depended on accurately observing conditions at sea.

Assessment

The Shoreham Channel sighting represents one of many reports of USOs (Unidentified Submerged Objects) entering or leaving water. The English Channel has generated numerous such reports over the years.
