The Stephenville Lights
Dozens of witnesses saw a massive craft over Texas that was pursued by military jets.
The Stephenville Lights
On January 8, 2008, dozens of residents around Stephenville, Texas, reported seeing a massive, silent craft with bright lights in the evening sky. Several witnesses reported military jets pursuing the object.
The Sighting
Witnesses described an object that was enormous, perhaps a mile wide, silent, and moving slowly across the sky. It displayed bright lights, sometimes strobing. Multiple witnesses reported F-16 jets pursuing the object.
The Witnesses
Among the witnesses was a pilot, a police officer, and numerous longtime residents. They agreed on the basic characteristics: size, silence, lights, and the military jets.
Military Response
The military initially denied any aircraft were in the area. After investigators obtained radar data through FOIA requests, the Air Force acknowledged jets had been flying training missions that night.
The Radar Data
MUFON obtained FAA radar data showing an unknown object in restricted airspace near the President’s ranch in Crawford, Texas. The object was tracked for over an hour.
Assessment
The Stephenville case combined multiple credible witnesses, military jet involvement, and radar data. Whatever the object was, it remains unexplained.
