The Travis Walton Abduction
A logger was allegedly abducted by a UFO while his crew watched, remaining missing for five days.
The Travis Walton Abduction
On November 5, 1975, logger Travis Walton was allegedly abducted by a UFO in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in Arizona. Six coworkers witnessed the event. Walton was missing for five days before returning with an extraordinary story.
The Sighting
A logging crew was returning home after work when they noticed a light in the forest. Approaching, they saw a large, glowing disc hovering above a clearing. Travis Walton left the truck to get closer. A beam of light struck him, knocking him to the ground.
The Crew’s Reaction
Panicked, the crew fled. After regaining composure, they returned but found no trace of Walton or the craft. They reported the incident to police, becoming suspects in a possible murder. All six passed polygraph tests about their account.
The Abduction
Walton reappeared five days later. He recalled waking aboard a craft, seeing non-human beings, and later encountering human-like figures who placed a mask on his face. His next memory was of the craft departing and finding himself near a highway.
Investigation
The case was extensively investigated. Walton also passed polygraph tests, though results of one early test were disputed. His story has remained consistent for nearly fifty years. Skeptics point to minor inconsistencies and the logging crew’s potential motive to fabricate an excuse for being behind on their contract.
Assessment
The Travis Walton case remains one of the most famous abduction cases due to multiple witnesses to the initial event and Walton’s maintained consistency. His 1978 book “Fire in the Sky” was adapted into a 1993 film.
