The Travis Walton Abduction

On November 5, 1975, logger Travis Walton disappeared from the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest after allegedly being struck by a beam of light from a UFO. He reappeared five days later with memories of being aboard an alien craft.

The Incident

Walton and six coworkers were driving home when they saw a luminous disc hovering above the trees. Walton approached and was struck by a beam of light that threw him to the ground. His terrified coworkers fled.

When they returned, Walton was gone. An extensive search found no trace of him.

The Return

Five days later, Walton called from a phone booth in a nearby town. He was confused, dehydrated, and had lost weight. He described waking aboard a craft, seeing non-human beings, and being returned.

The Polygraphs

All the witnesses passed polygraph tests. Walton also passed, though one examiner initially reported inconclusive results.

Investigation

The case attracted significant attention. Skeptics suggested a hoax related to a forestry contract, but no evidence of collusion emerged. Believers point to the number of witnesses and polygraph results.

Assessment

The Walton case remains one of the most famous alleged alien abductions. The multiple witnesses and Walton’s five-day disappearance set it apart from most abduction claims. His story has remained consistent for decades.
