The Valensole Encounter

On July 1, 1965, lavender farmer Maurice Masse encountered a landed craft and two beings in his field near Valensole, France. The encounter left physical traces that affected the landing site for years afterward.

The Encounter

At 5:45 AM, Masse was walking to his lavender field when he heard a whistling sound. He discovered an egg-shaped object about the size of a car resting on four legs in his field.

Near the craft stood two beings about four feet tall, with large bald heads, large slanted eyes, and small mouths. They wore green coveralls and appeared to be examining his lavender plants.

When Masse approached, one of the beings pointed a tube-like device at him. He was paralyzed instantly, unable to move. The beings entered their craft, which rose silently and flew away.

The Aftermath

Masse remained paralyzed for fifteen minutes after the craft departed. For weeks afterward, he experienced excessive drowsiness, requiring up to fifteen hours of sleep daily.

The landing site showed physical traces. Plants within a ten-foot radius of the landing spot died. The affected area would not grow lavender for ten years. Analysis showed the soil had been altered.

Investigation

French authorities investigated the case thoroughly. Masse was considered a reliable witness with no reason to fabricate the encounter.

Assessment

The Valensole case is significant for the physical traces it left behind. The long-term effects on the soil and vegetation provided tangible evidence that something unusual had occurred.
