The Westall High School UFO
Over 200 students and teachers watched a silver disc land near their school.
The Westall High School UFO
On April 6, 1966, over 200 students and staff at Westall High School in Melbourne, Australia, witnessed a silver disc-shaped craft descend, land briefly in a field, then depart at high speed. The incident remains Australia’s largest mass UFO sighting.
The Sighting
At approximately 11 AM, students in a physical education class noticed a silver, disc-shaped object descending over pine trees. The object appeared to land in a grassy paddock known as the Grange, then ascended rapidly. Additional objects were seen in the sky.
The Witnesses
Over 200 students and teachers poured out of the school to watch. Some students ran toward the landing site. They reported a circle of flattened grass where the craft had landed. A girl who reached the site first allegedly collapsed and required medical attention.
The Cover-Up
Within hours, unidentified officials arrived. Students and teachers were told not to discuss what they had seen. Some were threatened with consequences if they spoke. The landing site was reportedly inspected by military personnel.
The Aftermath
Despite being told to stay silent, witnesses have spoken over the years. In 2006, forty years after the incident, a reunion brought together dozens of original witnesses who confirmed their experiences. The story remained consistent across decades.
Assessment
The Westall incident is extraordinary for the number of witnesses who saw the same thing at the same time. The apparent official cover-up adds another layer of mystery. Whatever landed at Westall that day changed the lives of everyone who saw it.
