The Westall UFO Encounter

On April 6, 1966, over 200 students and teachers at Westall High School in Melbourne witnessed a UFO descend and land near the school. The incident is Australia’s most significant mass UFO sighting.

The Sighting

At approximately 11 AM, students in outdoor physical education noticed a grey, saucer-shaped object descending toward a nearby paddock. Students and teachers rushed to investigate, seeing the object on or near the ground before it rose and departed at high speed.

The Cover-Up

Within hours, men in suits arrived. Teachers were instructed not to discuss the incident. The grass where the object landed was reportedly flattened or burned but quickly cordoned off.

The Witnesses

Over sixty years later, witnesses still maintain their accounts. The consistency of descriptions, the number of witnesses, and the alleged cover-up make Westall one of the most compelling mass UFO sightings on record.
