Yemen UAP Orb vs Hellfire Missile

In October 2024, an MQ-9 Reaper drone fired a Hellfire missile at an unidentified orb moving at high speed off the coast of Yemen. The orb kept flying after being struck. Video of the incident was shown to Congress in September 2025, raising questions about objects that survive military weapons.

In September 2025, Congress was shown footage that may represent one of the most significant military UAP encounters ever recorded - an American drone firing a Hellfire missile at an unidentified object that simply continued flying after the impact.

The Incident

The encounter occurred in October 2024 off the coast of Yemen, where U.S. forces have been conducting operations against Houthi militants. An MQ-9 Reaper drone, one of the military’s most sophisticated unmanned aircraft, detected and tracked an anomalous object - described as an orb moving at high speed.

The decision was made to engage the object with an AGM-114 Hellfire missile, one of the most proven air-to-ground weapons in the American arsenal. The missile, designed to destroy tanks and fortified positions, struck its target.

The orb kept flying.

Congressional Revelation

Representative Eric Burlison revealed the footage during a House hearing on September 9, 2025, as part of ongoing congressional oversight of UAP incidents. The video showed the Reaper tracking the orb and the subsequent missile strike, with the object apparently unaffected by an impact that should have destroyed any conventional aircraft or drone.

The revelation added to mounting congressional frustration with Pentagon transparency on UAP matters. Lawmakers have accused defense officials of withholding information about encounters that raise serious questions about national security and technological capabilities.

Implications

If the footage shows what it appears to show - an object surviving a direct hit from a military weapon designed to destroy armored vehicles - the implications are profound. No known technology, including advanced drones or experimental aircraft, could be expected to survive such an impact.

The incident raises questions that Congress and the public are increasingly demanding answers to:

  • What was the object?
  • What technology could allow it to survive a Hellfire strike?
  • How many similar encounters have occurred?
  • Why has this information been kept from the public?

The Yemen orb incident represents a new phase in UAP disclosure - actual military engagement with anomalous objects, captured on video and presented to Congress, yet still lacking any official explanation.
